Can you imagine having lunch at an estate in Toledo and arriving by helicopter from Madrid in less than an hour? Or wanting to fly over Madrid in an exclusive experience just for you and your partner? How about spending the day in Puerto Banús and returning after dinner? The world of helicopters offers a unique VIP experience that is becoming increasingly popular in our country. We spoke with Fernando Gómez, spokesperson for World Aviation Group, to give us more details about the latest luxury experience that can now be enjoyed in Madrid.
“We have the latest generation helicopters in Spain. What kind of services can we offer? All kinds of services, tailored to the customer’s wishes, such as a transfer from Madrid or Marbella, for example, or from Madrid to a hunting estate, or from Madrid to a restaurant,” explains Gómez.
Flying in a helicopter is undoubtedly one of the greatest desires for those of us who love to travel. It’s convenient, with no waiting times, and allows us to enjoy fantastic views beyond those offered by the small window of an airplane. Seeing cities from a bird’s eye view is one of the best experiences if you like to travel. However, how many companies allow us to book a completely bespoke helicopter flight? In Spain, there are only eight licenses for commercial flights in these types of aircraft.
From Madrid, the most requested service is the transfer to estates or golf courses in nearby provinces such as Toledo or Cáceres. Regarding prices, they start from 2,000 or 2,500 euros, although the figure doubles if you want to fly in the Bell 429, the company’s most luxurious helicopter.
Gómez, from World Aviation Group (WAG), explains that you have to take into account the range of the helicopter, which is about 400 or 500 kilometers. Knowing this, “we can offer any kind of service the client desires. We are providing added value that did not exist in Spain, which is high-end helicopter transportation on demand managed by the company itself and, logically, at the service of its clients.”
José Ángel Valladar, responsible for VIP helicopter experiences at WAG, explains that most of their passengers are foreigners. “There is also the Spanish luxury client, such as footballers or people from the IBEX world.” The great advantage of helicopters is that they can land anywhere as long as there is a space of at least 30 x 30 meters without obstacles or uneven ground.
The client chooses the route and stops they want to make (as long as it is logistically possible), which can range from a transfer to an estate, to Marbella or Ibiza (two of the top destinations), as well as a pleasure excursion flying over a specific city.
